Someone hit my Civic!
Hey everyone. Today I woke up and noticed that my bumper was hanging slightly on the drivers side. As I walked closer to the car i noticed that the car was hit on driver side front tire? The hub cap was shattered and scattered over the floor. It seems that someone drove right into the tire. The front tires were turned to the right and my steering wheel was still turned to the left, the same way I left it after I finished parking it last night. And while they were trying to flee from the scene, I guess the person quickly reversed and went forward rubbing onto my bumper causing it to drag down.
Do you guys have any idea if there could be problems with the axles or suspension or some sort?? has this ever happened to anyone? and can anyone share their experience?
thanks so much! sorry I do not have any pictures at the moment, but I will try to get them uploaded immediately when I do. Its also a 2001 Civic LX

I drove the car on to the driveway. It seems to turn fine, but I didn't really go any fast than about 10mph. I'm hesitant on driving it because my sisters boyfriend keeps telling me to leave it alone and hes going to jack up the car or something, to see if there are other problems. i.e. axles. suspension. some other stuff.... to me it did not look that serious, but then again you never know. ~.~
if your steering wheel is turned to the left but the tire is turned to the right, there's obviously something bent or broken. i'd avoid driving the car to prevent further damage that may occur.
there could be a lot of problems w/ the car, if you don't know anything about the car, you'd have to have a mechanic take a look at it for you.

ah.. the thing is, I don't know any honest mechanic. I don't want to take it somewhere and then they tell me everything is broken and I'll have to replace everything
You should have never driven the car. Being that the wheels were one direction the steering wheel was in the opposite direction, something is seriously wrong with it. You should have called the police. Let your friend get it off of the ground and then look it over. The damage will be obvious. Finding a reputable mechanic should be relatively easy. Write down the names of some that are near you and do a search for them with the Department of Occupation Regulations. They will have any court records for any business you want information on. Do not rely on the BBB. They will only have information on the businesses who have paid the fee and joined.
katzenjammer84, you have got to be kidding! Are you trying to get someone killed?

You got lucky. What did they say was the cause of the steering wheel not clocking correctly with the wheels?

yea, but i'm still unsure. when I drive it something still feels weird when I go over speed bumps kind of fast the front right tire (thats where it was hit). makes a clunking noise sometimes.
