Default Help! Starter not working!

Hey guys, this issue is not on a honda, but i need to move this car in order to get y honda out of the garage. I have a 67 ford fairlane. IM having an issue with the starter. If im correct, to test the starter all i have to do really is take it out of the car, connect the negative from a jumper cable to the case of the starter and the positive to the post on the starter correct? (wall mounted starter solenoid) .. At this point a good starter should engage and spin correct?

Well, my starter is not doing this, instead, when i connect the positive to the post it just sparks like hell and tries to weld itself together. LOL. Is is safe to say this started is shot? Is this sparking common? Ivetested bad starters like this before and they just didnt work... never had one spark.

So what do you guys think???

Thanks in advance!
