Default On car valve spring tool

Hey, im going to be installing a set of duel valve springs and retainers on my LS (b18b) pretty soon.

and i want to do it without removing the head from the car

i have found a tool that will work on vtec motors. but i am unsure if it will work on an LS motor

so im trying to find out what everyone else uses/used when installing them on there ls motor

sorry if this is the wrong section to be asking this question. if it is please delete or move to the correct section

the tool i have only works for vtec heads and wont bolt into a ls head

It will not work on an LS head without modifying it, ie. drilling a new hole to mount it with.

use a lisle spring compressor, they work good as **** and you dont need the ehad off the car, just gotta catch the valve, take a look here

yes you can install springs and retainers w/o removing the head.

just make sure the piston is at tdc for the cylinder you are working on and it will keep the valves from dropping too far.

The Lisle tool is an excellent piece but do NOT expect the new springs to be so easy to compress... especially if you are not using air to fill the cylinder to hold the valves in place.

if you got a air compressor all u need is a hose like one from a compression tester kit that will thread into the spark plug hole and just let the air pressure into which ever cylinder ur about to change the springs/retainers on and it will hold the valve up

... use a general valve spring compressor tool like the one thats listed on Ebay.

I remove the spark plug and fill the chamber with rope then bring the piston up to TDC. This will hold the valves.

Make sure to use soft nylon rope as to not score the cyl. wall's.

I have seen people try to use the hard plastic stuff and it just won't work.
