Theft?
Does anybody know the theft rate of the 06+ civic? Just curious and wondering if a two way paging alarm would be a good idea.
I think the theft rate is very low...but i could be wrong
Does anybody know if our keys have a chip/laser or something in it?

It's low for now, but it will increase. Over in Irvine, one could expect low theft, but recently an 05/06 dc5s was stolen from the VDC lot of UCI. Now keep in mind, the ignition in the dc5 is similar to that of an fg2/fa5. A two pager would be a wise investment.
Another good idea is to invest in a clutch lock. it's about $60 bucks and its a pretty good investment. i know that there are ways to bypass all these "security" prevention devices so to speak, but its one more thing that the thief has to deal with.
Ive talked to my dealer and the insurance agent when i bought my FA5 back in august when gas was $4ish per gallon and they said since gas was so high the Si was becoming a more stolen car, but im guessing since gas is back relatively down, the stolen rate has slowed perhaps declined.
it halfway makes sense to me. i think the supposed "reason" behind it is that the newer Si is the closest thing we really have to a type R and as time goes on the type r's break down and die as time goes on and ppl want a more fuel efficient car. So they steal an si. At least thats how i understood it.

I was under the impression that our immobilizer plus the fact that our cars are DBW make them less desirable to theives. They'd rather spend time on RSXs instead. Who knows, I guess owning an Si is an invitation to theives and vandals anyway...sucks that people are the way they are...
check insurance companies ratings, that is the be all end all definitive rating for theft issues and theyre the ones who make you pay more if a car has a high theft rate.
the Si is still a theft magent and almost all other (lower) trim levels are not as high a theft magent at all. one of the reasons I bought an LX-S instead of an Si.

i don't see why the release of k-pro would affect theft (maybe you know something that i don't). rsx engines are better for swapping into an older civic or integra because they have cable throttles. swapping a k20z3 into an integra requires the use of rsx engine parts. that's not to say that si's don't get stolen; they do have the advantage of a factory lsd which rsx's don't. they can also be stolen by somebody who wants an si engine in their non-si 06+ civic or to rebuild a wrecked car.

No one has ever stolen a Type R because it's a fuel efficient car. People steal them because they want parts, either to have for themselves/their homies or to sell off for a profit because they're desirable.
Similarly, no one is gonna steal your Si because they want a fuel efficient daily driver--if your car gets stolen, it's either going to get stripped or taken for a joyride. Or maybe both.
People buy Hondas because they're fuel efficient; they're stolen for entirely different reasons.
To the OP: buy a clutch lock, install a paging alarm, and get a quick release hub for your wheel if you're worried about theft. Force 'em to tow it if they really want it, and hopefully the alarm alerts you before they can get away with it.
Install a "self-combust" alarm on your car. If anyone other than you enters the driver's seat, it warns them to leave. If they don't leave within 1 minute, the car sets itself on fire.
I think they make them in China...a.k.a. Viper alarm systems.

Does our key have aser or chip like thing or is encrypted or a 'smart key' like thing? Can we start the ignition with a replica cut key? Is our key nothing more than a regular key with a door opener remote?

theft typically becomes a problem as cars age. I think your average honda thief steels hondas not really to sell off but to use the parts for himself or his boys. The reason why you dont see rsx and si's get stollen as frequently even though the parts are the most valuable is because their not easily used on ek/eg/ef/dc chassis.
ya they make mount kit but there far from cheap. Putting a k in another chassis isn't exactly a nut and bolt job. Chassis modifaction and wiring need to be done. So even if you got an k series motor for free, it's still gonna cost you $ and time to put it in whereas a b-series drops right in for little to no money

. do you know why it's bypassed?
