Default h22 help

I just recently got a h22 swap into my 93 del sol .I am wanting to build it to about 260 to the wheels at a reasonable price and am wondering about ideas. I am thinking at the moment about exhaust ,cold air intake ,cam and port and polish. please give me some perspectives

Take every HP you want to make, and multiply that by about $15-20 and start with a budget, and go from there.

your h22 doesnt do 200 hp at the wheels, sorry.

probably 160-165ish if its not tuned at all.

so $20 x 100 = $2000

and keep in mind that's not even exact, it'll depend on if you go turbo, or all motor. If you go all motor its going to cost some $$$$$ to hit 260whp. You gotta pay to play, if you don't want to pay, then don't play.

to get 260 to the wheels you will need to increase the displacement of the motor.

here is a quick recipe that will work great for a dd:

95mm h23 crank
h22 rods
88 or 89mm pistons
12:1 compression
skunk2 pro1 or pro2 cams
skunk2 valvetrain
camgears
euro r intake manifold
70mm tb

you can retain the stock injectors and use the stock exhaust manifold to start with.

this setup will put you at least 260whp w/ plenty of tq as well.

if its strictly a race setup i would go w/ more compression, larger cams and definately a custom exhaust manifold.

260hp for $1200 without Nitrous is a pipe dream.

NAH2B gave you some good advice, as did Xenocron with his $ factor.

I don't think he was saying $20 for every extra WHP you want to make, so 260 * 20 = $5,200.

Although that cost estimate seems a tad low, unless you're not counting the cost of the ECU, tuning, and peripheral items for the engine (e.g. header, exhast, intake mani, throttle body, etc).

My main reason for not trying this setup is that I need the engine to run up to 8,000 ~ 8,200 RPMs multiple times per lap (for roadracing). Plus at TWS, on the front main I can top out my engine now (due to gearing), and the new engine would have to run over 7,500 RPMs for a good 10 to 15 seconds (I have to check my datalog to get a good time estimate). Would this be too much stress for a 95mm or 97mm crank in an H22?
