The Tire Rack isn't listing that size any more, but similar sizes are over $200 a tire. Sure seems like a lot of money when you can get the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, which is an even stickier tire, for around half that much money ($125.50/tire after rebate with free shipping from Discount Tire Direct, to be precise).

No. The price of the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 in North America had nothing to do with the price of the Acura RSX because it came from the factory with Michelin tires. And the DC5 Type R was never available in North America.

Quite aside from that, the cost of tires is such a tiny part of the cost of making a car that it doesn't have much if anything to do with how much a car costs. Think of it this way - even if the retail cost of a set of tires is $800 or so, the automaker buys them from the manufacturer and pays much less than even what wholesalers pay. (The tire manufacturer has a big incentive for auto manufacturers to use their tires, in addition to the sale itself, because it guarantees significant sales in the replacement market.)
