So about 5 years ago, I had my friend (whom was a circuit city shop manager) install my viper 791vx pager remote alarm system. He did the clutch bypass so I can utilize my remote start on cold mornings. Well, recently, when I try to turn the key to start my car, it doesn't crank. I can hear the fuel pump prime, no check engine lights, everything is fine, except that it won't crank. I had a friend get underneath the dash last month when it first happened and said he noticed a loose wire and wrapped it back up with electrical tape....car started fine and haven't had any issues until today. Had to push start my car to start it....my friend doesn't remember what color wire it was underneath my dash to jiggle, or check.......
Does anybody know which color wire/s I need to look at underneath my dash by the clutch pedal?
Thanks in Advance for the help... (btw, I would call my friend who did the install but I haven't talked to him in over 2 years...don't want to call out of the blue to ask for help.)

OK, so I understand, a shop manager at CC installed a remote start, for automatics only, into your 5 speed and now it can't be started with the ign. key...
"when I try to turn the key to start my car, it doesn't crank"
does that mean it will still remote start?
The Viper 791XV has a built-in starter cut relay.
In the "Relay Satellite" is an 8pin harness with heavy gauge leads, the purple lead, [pin 1] and the green lead, [pin 2] are used for the starter cut and remote start circuit, your cars starter wire, [black/white in ign. harness] has to be cut so the purple and green leads can be connected to them, purple to starter motor end and green the ign. switch end.
If engine will not crank with key or remote start, the problem is with the purple, [to black/white] lead connection.
If engine still remote starts then problem is with the green, [to black/white] lead connection.
Remember purple, green and black/white are the colors your looking for.
Those connections should not have come loose, sounds to me like your friend the CC shop manager installed your alarm/remote start system without soldered connections, tisk tisk tisk.94

791 has a relay pack.
your factory starter wire is black/white wire
from your key switch it comes out black with white strip
going into the relay pack should be green.
coming out of the relay pack it should be purple
then going back into the black with white strip.

Your starter wire is black with a white trace. And on the remote start harness there is a green and purple. These two wire are spliced into and between the starter wire. Purple goes to starter side and green to the key side. The purple wire is what send out 12 volt to the starter to crank the starter. This also provides a starter kill for the car. Which really does not work as you can see that you can push start the car.
well, thanks guys, this kinda answered a question i had about installing my viper alarm on my db8. the startes signal wire was already cut from the previous owner. now i know for sure how to wire up my sattalte relay.

Thank you guys for all of your responses... The car will not remote start or start with the key in the ignition. My friend did this install as a side job on my GSR. I'm pretty sure he soldered the wires together, but I just think this particular wire didn't have enough solder on it, reasoning for the bad connection. I'm going to take a look this morning.

ive had the same exact problem as the mod, but my problem (i think) was a blown ign. fuse OR a loose terminal on the neg. battery side. I've cleaned off the ground and went through three starters and it seems to be working for now (crosses fingers)
