Default Code 9 or 4 WHA???

My car is a 91 base model DX, has a dpfi to a mpfi, when i bought the car it was throwing Code 9 - No. 1 Cylinder Position Sensor so i swapped out the Dizzy and then it still does it and read maybe some time swap the ECU, the ecu that came with the car is 91 pm6 ecu, so i tried my 88 and 89 pm6 ecu and it throws code Code 4 - Crank Angle Sensor, So after that i put the original dizzy back in still does the same thing, code 4 so i put my 91 pm6 back in throws code 9, i have NO clue what the heck is going on and hopefully someone on here has some insight. btw i reset the ECU every time i swapped out the ECUs. thanks!

it sounds to me like someone either didnt put the wiring in for the extra sensor in the SI distributor, which would be an extra 2 wires.. Or they have them backwards or mixed up. Both those sensors responsible for the code reside in the distributor, and there are 6 wires in the big plug on the SI, but only 4 wires on the big plug on the dx dpfi. My guess is that they got one or more of the wires mixed up swapping from the dx to the si style.

how it normally works is you chop off or repin the 4 wires from the dx into the SI plug, because all of them are used in the SI distributor and ECU, plus 2 additional wires. The 2 additional wires you have to add are from c1 and c2 on the ecu plug.

here is what you would see if the stock wires were mostly left alone for the adaptation.
