Switching out K-pro with stock. Immobilizer options
I have been the owner of an ep3 with a Hondata K-pro for one week. My intention is to replace the ecu with a stock one I picked up at the salvage yard yesterday and sell the K-pro then sell the car.
I realized there was an immobilizer issue when it wouldn't crank. The salvage guy said I would need the stock one reprogrammed at a dealer and he thought it could cost less than $ 100.
The service writer at the dealer checked with the shop foreman who said that would be 3 shop hours to replace the ecu, reflash and program the stock unit for the key, for a grand total of $234
Has anyone gone through this? Are dealerships the only ones who can make this happen? Is this outragous price what is should cost? Should I quit whining and sell the car with the K-pro?
Thanks

I would think the dealer would would be the only place to get this done. Did you check other dealerships? I would shop around by calling a few different acura/honda dealerships just to gauge the price.
