Default I Need A New Cat, Where To Buy

Need a new Catalytic Converter for an 01 Civic EX Coupe.

Where can I get a cheap one. Best I found so far was $575. It needs to be a dual one or whatever.

Anyone here have an old one? I cant seem to find one on ebay, and no junk yards in the area has a compatible year

A dual brick? Ha... the 02 sensor goes between the bricks, the car only cares about the first brick. You can get a vibrant single brick ceramic high flow for about $80.
Or you can get random technology high flow downpipe. no idea how much it is.

But srsly though, if you are saying that a single brick one will work that saved me a ton of money. Besides that, as cheap as $80? How cheap are these? All I need is to pass emissions and my mechanic to put it in without it being a problem.

Can you please link me where I can buy the right one?

Anyways, I know the Random Tech. replacement catalytic converter works, but it's not cheap.

I have one of these on my car. It passed emissions in december. The car runs fairly clean as it is, all you need is enough cleaning to get the O2 sensor to not trip the CEL. If the CEL isnt on, then its not tripping the cat efficiency below threshold code... AKA the cat is working well enough.
You're going to need a shop to weld it in though.

Hey Boiler, i sent that link to my mechanic and he said:

The only problem with that cat is that it would change your O2 sensor placement so much that you risk, in high probability, repeated codes sush as, insuficiant convertor flow, rear O2 not switching, slow response time from post cat O2, ect. All of these codes posses the ability to greatly affect the way that the vehicle runs and give you poor gas milage as well as even risk the possibility of doing damage to the replacement cat. There may be other less expensive catallitic convertors that you can find out there but they do need to be listed as a replacement for your vehicle and not just a complete universal. Hope that this info helps. If you have any other questions just let me know

I buddy of mine recommended a magnaflow one

Those 80 dollar cats are hit and miss. I work at a car lot, and we learned the hard way. The last cat I purchased was for my 00 GSR and it costed about 120 at my buddies shop. Keep in mind this was a couple years ago. Restrictions always get tighter, meaning prices always go up.

Because in some states they use a sniffer at the muffler, to prove that your catalytic converter is doing it's job.

I'm sort of in the same boat.... my cat is sort of shot (same car), and I need to find a replacement. Not really worried about emissions at this point, won't be a problem for at least 2 years... but I would like a replacement to bring fuel efficiency back up.

Someone has also told me about the Magnaflow... is it any good? Cost?
