car caught on fire, now bogging.
hey guys, well i was driving home today, saw a bump that i didn't really want to drive fast on the freeway ( 101 s towards Paul SF AREA ). so i slowed down to 20mph? went over the bump, and downshift to second and babied it to 4k and shifted normally. i didn't gun it or whatever, so then i continued down the freeway and all of a sudden my car smelt like it was burning plastic. so i tried to pull off the freeway but in order to do that i'd have to move over to at least three lanes to take the exit towards my house / anywhere i could pull over safely. so i did that, exited candlestick park and pulled over near a recycling plant. i shut off the car and i noticed i was bogging from a stop to the spot where i pulled over. so anyway, i see smoke coming from where the two rubber hangers are for the muffler, smoking. then it led on to a fire. i got spooked and tried to splash some water and soda under the car. it didn't work. so then the fire dpt came when it finally died out. estimated time was about 10-15 minutes but i don't blame them, i was in a spot that was in the cuts. so then i drove home or was trying to, and it just started bogging hella bad. died a couple of times and i'm guessing it's the fuel pump wires. it doesn't want to go at all. so please, help me out guys.
i'm sorry for the long story but i'm glad that i was ok. thank you
