I need to change my head gasket on my d15b7. this might be a dumb question and yes I tried searching it up, but would I be able to use a y8 gasket on my car or will it not line up. I know the y8's a vtec head but there oem steel gaskets,thinner, and cheaper than all the other head gaskets. please help. forgive me if it's a dumb question

 

it wont work. it has an extra hole for the vtec oil supply. There are no dumb questions. the only dumb questions are the ones that arent asked until after you f*cked something up.

 

hit up www.Cometic.com. they have the gaskets you need and in various sizes too. hope this helps you out.

 

The gaskets are interchangeable.

The b7 block has an oil restrictor, but the orifice is still there.

Haha, just like the heads. Of course you can't mate a VTEC head to a non VTEC block. They only have the same bore, bolt pattern, etc. It's Honda magic that made the D15B engine possible.
