Howzit braddahs! I kno get pleny hawaiian on these forums, but they pretty much all stay in the appearance/cosmetic side of the forum. How's things in hawaii? How's da job situation? From what I hear, not a good time for me to move back yet. Hahaha!

There never is a "good time" to move back. Unless you can still get your mainland wage in Hawaii.

I have a friend from Hawaii that apply for "mainland jobs" to be stationed back in Hawaii. She has been working for a few "mainland" companies for over 10+ years, and NEVER left Oahu.

That is the only Win-Win situation.

Living in Hawaii and making Mainland Money.

People move (back) to Hawaii when they had enough of the Mainland Life. Unless one is from Hawaii, they won't know what that mean.

There is something about the Aina that brings you back, always.

 

Hmmmm. I gotta find THAT kind of job (along w/ ev'rybuddy else eh!). Das military or what? I know what you mean about the islands tugging on the heart strings. Its like one invisible ubilical cord that never gets severed.
That and its scary to raise keiki up here. Get so many Chesters around and always get headliners on the daily news about sexual predators getting arrested or AT LARGE. I don't even like that I have to leave my wife at night to go to work. I not saying that hawaii no mo dat, but its not as prevalent.

Hawaii is where us hawaiian's hearts are always at. I know I'll be back some day.

Yea, it's civilian positions with Contractors that work for the Dept of Defense. I met a lot of "locals" (in L.A.) on the mainland. I never met one that said they don't want to come back to Hawaii. However, one couple have been saying that for over 35+ years. They are now in their 60s. There is no point in going back. All their kids and grandkids have no connection to Hawaii. Nothing local about them.

I'm 10+ now. I plan to stay another 20 or so on the mainland for my kids. So I will be just like them (old couple in LA). Then what's the point of me going back?
