Hey guys, my friend has a b16 cable trans, we ant to convert it to hydro. We have access to a hydro transmission case, but something tells me that it wont be as easy as just swapping the internals...
I know there is two ***** with springs on hydros for the gear changing, and on cable there is only one...and sometimes none. So how would i go about doing this??
Also how would i go about shimming from roller bearings to ball bearings in the dif from the b16??
Is there a kit i should buy? HELP!!

it has to be a 92-93 ys1 gsr,or ls tranny to swap internals with a hydro.
your right, the hyro's and ys1's have the 2 detent ball and springs while the older cable have none, they have a one piece shift fork assembly like the single cams

Yeah the only way this would work is if it was the 92-93 JDM Xsi B16 tranny which is pretty rare. Chances are it's the older s1, j1, etc, which isn't interchangeable.
hasport has a conversion mount that let's you use a cable tranny to hyrdo. you should check it out. my old co-worker did that as well to his eg. he got a b16 cable tranny (non lsd) for cheap and then bought the mount from hasport and it ran perfect.
