CONFLICTING INFO; Y8 IM on A6 head
ok there is a little info here or there similar to what i am looking for. however questions are sometihng different therefore answers are different as well
i am looking to install a Y8 manifold on a A6 head. not swapping the entire head or eng......just the Y8 IM on the D16A6 head. so can i use the A6 throttle body, IACV, FITV, & TPS? or do i need to use the Y8 IM w/ the Y8 TB, IAVC, FITV, & TPS??
would anyone be able to clarify please

if its any consilation i installed a z6 intake manifold on a a6 head with a ls tb, but im assuming it will bolt up, i dont know why it wouldnt...would like to hear from someone who has done so as well.
ok i know the Y8 manifold will bolt up to the head that isnt my question
my question is, do i have to use the Y8 throttle body, w/ the Y8 IAVC, FITV, & TPS???? or can i just use what i have w/ the Y8 intake mani

I ran this way for a short time before converting to OBD1.
You will have to extend MAP sensor wires if you want to use the Y8 one on the TB.
PVC hose gets modified because there isn't a mount for it on the Y8.
Intake air temp sensor doesn't exist on the Y8 intake manifold. You drill a hole in your intake arm and mount it in there. I used the one from my stock D15 in there without any downside to it. The Y8 one seems to sit deeper into the air stream so it might be worth looking into if you care enough about it.
All the sensors work fine with the A6 ECU.

Things have changed under the hood of the car.
If I remember, I will see if I still have the intake arm sitting around in the garage and shoot a pic for you tonight.
You just drill a hole and push the IAT in there. If you have an AEM or something you could mount it in the silicone coupler at the TB -or- drill into the metal.
I found a pic on Google of one drilled into the metal -

I used this PDF to do my IM swap:
http://www.geocities.com/joeyp_19/d16y8manifoldswap.pdf
It contains a ton of good info.
On my Z6 IM, I noticed a gain of top end power, but a slight loss of low-mid. Porting the inlets on the head to the size of the Z6 IM gasket brought it back, though, and its pretty easy to do with the head off... no need to polish, just widen them out about 1mm. I'd expect the same results from a Y8 IM.
Good luck!
