2001 Accord LX acting weird, maybe ignition system?
My accord stalled out on me with no warning yesterday at a red light and the next red light a block up the street. I pulled it into a parking lot and then when I would try to start it it would turn over forever (7-8 seconds) and then crank, but the idle was really rough and the whole engine was shaking. If I let my foot off the gas it would die. Well, I left it there overnight and today I go to get it towed to my house, and it started up fine and drove all the way home (5 miles). I let it idle at home for fifteen minutes to see if I could reproduce the problem, but it idled like a champ. It has about 80k miles on it. Any ideas? The main relay is clicking like it's supposed to, so I don't think it's that.
Well, two days later and the car is running ok, but not perfect. I notice if I floor the gas pedal, the car acts like it doesn't want to accelerate past a certain point. My hope is that I got some bad gas with some rain water in it (We've had a TON of rain the last week or so) and that it got into my fuel injectors and had to dry out over night, and that when Iwent back the next day it ran ok. What can I do to make sure that this was just a one time mess-up?
any CEL. my gf 1998 accord is having the sample problem, car dies sometimes around 5-10mph when you step on the brake and approach a stop. she has a CEL code p0420, bad CAT, which isnt cheap. also after the car dies, it takes a about a min for it to start up again. not sure if just the CAT will cause this.
