12000k HID fine in stock headlight?
My question is 12000k hid's alright with the stock housing? I didnt kno if they would burn too hot for the 20 year old honda head light housing....
yes, retrofitting projectors would be a good idea, and give you the best light output without risking blinding other drivers.
the hids themselves do not run hotter than standard halogens. in fact they're generally around 35 watts, and thus about half the wattage of stock lights. therefore they produce much less heat.

I recently put HID on my crx i think it looks good i got some pics but it really wasnt in a very dark location at the time. but in person they look good. and they do light up pretty good on the street on stock housings. check it.

what happens if you swap out lenses? put a HID bulb into the stock headlight but swap out the projector lens instead of the stock one with the guiding lines?
yes retrofitting is a better idea....but the hid kit will still work in stock housing...like said the hid actually burns at a lower temperature than halogen cause they run like half the watts of a normal halogen bulb....but anyways heres my 10000k i installed in my stock housing...my kit is a PnP kit i bought off ebay...a cheapo kit for like 80 bucks shipped...

ahhhhh damn MASSIVE GLARE in this thread!!!! I've seen halogen bulbs like Osram Night Breaker H4's that put out more light than the 10,000 and 12,000K shown in here.
And yes, some cars came with HID in reflector housings, but again, those housings were designed for use with HID bulbs. But even still, HID reflector headlights are not as good as quality HID projectors.

i would also agree that 10 and 12k lights are stupid to have, but not because they have more glare. they are actually less bright than hids with a lower number color temperature rating. 10 is way too blue, and 12 is like violet purple, neither of which makes it easy to see much of anything on the road at night in comparison to decent halogens or 4100k-6000k hids.
Ricey. I drive to school at night in a long dark road, its a 1 way, when i see an on coming car with plug and play hid's , i get so pissed, i can barely see anything other than that huge glare, i swear if i feel like smashing those damn healdights.

Bi-xenon lows + 55W HID highs = the blinding light of almighty God reaching through the parted clouds.
Note: I do NOT condone (and will actually yell at you for) running a HID kit in a halogen reflector housing as the main lamps. But, highbeams aren't legal to use when there's other traffic anyway, so go for it.
