Type r ls vtec build with crane stage 2 cams, titanium retainers, dual valve springs, arp head studs, rod bolts, aem fpr, itr intake, ls throttle body for now.. oem type r oil pump water pump new timing belt blah blah blah.
The head was on a builtt b20 with the same set up top end wise from head up. Everything is i dentical. Same fpr, intake, cams etc. In exception to me using stock ls 235cc injectors vs. the prelude 310cc injectors
Now the problem:
I just ordered a chip from phearable and took the car out. It runs great fires right up no funky idling, good drivability. So i let it warm up just poking around and then get on it in first, everything feels fine up to vtec (a little sluggish) A louddd *** engagement but quite honestly I've felt more kick from a d series.
Once the cars wrapped up it hesitates on continuing to pull.. It is smooth, yet just doesnt feel like its at its full potential and then out of nowhere, approaching 7200, the thing rips and you can definately feel it pull.
Any suggestions (besides getting it tuned) for the time being? Should i change injectors, adjust the fpr possibly? Is the chip just a junk map?

with aftermarket cams no base map is gonna make it run great. its to get to the dyno safely. if it idles good and runs decent then i think you got your $ worth from the base map.
also i dont know how aggressive they are but if you didnt degree the cams and just have them at 0,0 then it may be your fault and not the map

I'm in no way shooting for a substitution that will surpass a dyno tune in any way, that situation is non existant. I'm just trying to figure out what i should do to make it run safely until I get up the money to do so..I was a bit excited after driving it for the first time and knew it wasnt right, so i asked around.
Anyways, I put in some 310cc precision injectors from my friend and it smoothed it out quite a bit. It's driving condition is definitely bearable for now.
Quite honestly, I beat my friends 02 rsx-s to 65 =] and then he walked me hard in third =[

um. drive it carefully and don't rev the sh*t out of it until you get it tuned maybe?
i sure as hell wouldn't. i dont even like starting my car until i get it tuned. but you gotta do what you gotta do.
