I'm picking up a crx si car this week for 1400$ clean title. Car have about 201,000 miles. I was wondering if the car has it monthly oil changes,spark plugs,flush etc regular maintenance. How long would the engine last or how long does these engine last until i have to replace another one? Thanks in advanced.

all depends on how hard u drive it n make sure its had a t belt done at 200k u should probly have it done if it hasnt been

Mine has 326,000 Gets oil changes about every 1000-1500 miles, Hits the revlimiter at least 5 times a day lol. dosen't smoke a drop yet (knock on wood.)

 

216k on my odometer, and I still get 37 miles per gallon. Stick to your regular maintainance schedule and it should last forever. I'm shotin for a mil! Haha.

ya its hard to put a time on a engine, if its not taken car of, (reg maintance) it will lastmaybe 150k or so. if its taken car off the skys the limits. i got 250k on mine and still running strong, but i take care of it. my buddys 97 ex blew at like 130k becuase he changed the oil like twice a yr and beat the sh*t out of it

 

Depends how hard you beat on the motor.

 

Give it a compression test when you get home. These engines can often outlast the car, depending on how it's been treated. Unfortunately, soom folks do the routine maint, but then skip the heavy stuff...

I've seen them go deep into the 200k arena, and a few past 300k. Good luck.

 

Yeah my car is an 91 crx DX with 82,xxx miles on it and it runs really strong still..... But if it's form an kid your buying the car form..... Then you aready know the engine has bean beaten.... All kids race there cars at any change they get...

 

my eg has 242k on it and i beat on it.

 

buying it from a doctor, he said he took care of it and drove it just from home,to work and the basic general stuff, not from a kid.

 

do a compression and cylinder leakdown test and then you will have a better idea of what kinda shape it's in. as was already said, you cant predict when an engine is going to crap out on you. it could run excellent one day and then spin a rod bearing or blow a headgasket the next. not saying you should worry, but it's not something you can easily predict. every engine is different.

 

There is no way to answer your question, stop digging for an answer that doesn't exist.....

Also, not all kids race their cars, some are total weiners.

my stock engine only lasted 135,xxx miles and the person i bought it from was the original owner older guy.

 

Do the regular maintenance and make sure you switch some parts so your motor last for a good while.

 

there is no telling how long it could last but if it was well maintained and if you keep it well maintained you should be good for a while

 

i have seen some hit 400,000 take care of it and it will take care of you.

My last crx made it to 330,xxx before i rebuilt it. I never drive it hard. As long as you keep up regular maintenance than it should be fine.
