couple q's about painting
plan on painting my 93 civic sedan this summer probably
my friend has a shop with the spray guns and what not.
i was wondering what the easiest colors to paint would be. if it matters.
for ex: i was thinking a nice colored like mustang yellow might be difficult to pull off for a first timer compared to a dark blue red or black even.
i will look through the forums on how to do prep work but in terms of difficulty and cost how hard/expensive is a diy paint job?

Dark colors shades of black show everything. White is a pain but easier than black. Metalic takes some skill. Yellow isnt too hard. You can do a good DIY for under 1k. Its getting harder though primers expensive and paint isnt getting cheaper either. Its difficult thers a lot of prep that they dont show on TV. THe biggest thing about painting is making sure you keep moving keep the same distance and speed while ur painting.
^^^ Yes i agree! White, is probably one of the easiest colors to paint and especially for a first time DIY! You should be able to get all of your supplies for about i say 500-1000 buxs dpending on what supplies and brand of supplies you use. And yes when painting keep a constant speed and even flow on whatever you are painting primer, base, clear etc. Metalics and Pearls are little tricky causing you having to clean your spray gun tip very often due to flake in the paint. IMO start off simple and work up from there.
Some of the basic materials needed:
Sand paper
Lacquer thinner
Primer/sealer (mixed with lacquer thinner)
Filters
Spray gun
Paint reducer
Paint
Clear coat

ahh and make sure you use the rite reducer/hardener. THer rated for tempatures if you use the wrong one youll hav problems with runs or some horrible orange peel.
painting is as hard as you want it to be my first color i sprayed EVER was sunlight yellow. and it wasnt that hard covered well no streaking just take your time when you spray
if it is in a shop and booth. any color will be easy to paint. just gotta get use to the distance and and flow of yoru spray, because you don't want to go over too much and make runs. gotta make sure your pressure is good too so that it isn't too low or high. but the base is easy compared to the clear. i would practice witht eh clear before doing it to your own car.
