Post my Mase Engineering turbo build *stolen*

what's up guys, I've mentioned it in a couple of posts but I'll be getting Mase's first AP2 turbo kit in about a month. he's made a RHD turbo kit for a guy in england, he's just finishing up the design for LHD S2000's. once the kit is ready I'm going up to his shop and they'll install and tune it. since it's the first AP2 kit they'll be double checking fitment and all that kinda stuff. plus we'll play around with both the GT30R and GT35R turbos so I'll be able to show some dyno's of both turbos on the same car at the same boost, should be cool to play with.

his kit is pretty unique in the fact that it's a tubular manifold but the only modifications that need to be done to the engine bay are to turn the heater hose so it's not over the manifold, and remove the factory header heat shield which gets replaced by his. that's it, no moving a/c lines, battery, oil filter, pretty straight forward install. I'll post info in here on the kit and the build as things happen, should be fun

here's the RHD kit, the LHD will pretty much look the same, they just have to design the manifold and downpipe differently to fit around the LHD components.

http://maseengineering.com/blog/entr...000_turbo_kit/

inlinepro has a sick special going on competition clutch's clutch and flywheel setup so I just ordered that today. for $695 I got the clutch and flywheel, if anyone else is looking for a clutch for their S give them a call while the sale is still going on. the kit might even come in this week, if so I'll install it this weekend. it's their stage 4 setup, most holding power before it's not comfortably streetable anymore. the guy at inlinepro I talked to said he drives on this clutch everyday and it's pretty good for a puck.

my AEM EMS 1052U should also be in this week, that'll be fun to put in just to not have to wait until 6000 for VTEC anymore well that's it for now.

I'm curious to see the difference in how the GT30R and GT35R act on the kit but I've already decided I'm going to run the GT35R and a set of the new 1000cc bosch saturated injectors. this way I've got room for more power if/when I build the motor

ha ha, yeah he's going to have production RHD and LHD kits, I'm just getting the first AP2 LHD kit. another guy has the first AP1 LHD kit and I think that car has been the test mule for most of the R&D on the RHD kits.

No need to build. Stock its going to make too much power for you to control on street tires. Then you need to buy a diff if you want to run slicks and or drag it. Whats your fuel setup? also 93, E-85, q16???

just picked up some 50 treadwear kumho victoracers friday, if those don't hold when I kill those I'll go to drag radials. most likely I'll end up setting up boost by gear and traction control in the AEM to help get the power to the ground. they set up boost by gear on the 600+whp RHD kit.

going for the most safe power on 93 octane I can get. if it's 500whp which Mase has done on an S2000, then great, if it's 475 whp for some reason then I'm not gonna cry race gas tune is cool but who's driving around with race gas all the time? not me if the drive train was built and I was going to the track often I'd set up a race gas tune. maybe we'll play around with one while we're there, but I doubt I'd drive around on it.

when the diff breaks (sooner or later it probably will ) I'm going to get the puddymod rear end. I like it since it's a simple replacement and it's 3 times stronger than stock, should be enough for me for a while.

If E85 is available in your area, I would HIGHLY recommended going that route from the start. Best of luck with the build!

E85 is great because it has a higher tolerance to knock like race gas, but it's WAY cheaper then regular unleaded. You use more fuel but in the end it will cost you less. If you do plan to go with E85 I would move twd the 1600CC injectors. Talk to Mase about it...

gotcha, I'll ask him about it. I know it's available somewhere down here, my buddy with a CTSV was talking about it the other day. it's my DD and I take it on long trips so in the end I have to use what's readily available like 93 octane.

we may play with a C16 tune, there's a VP and a sunoco pretty close to my house so I could run it once in a while if I wanted to.

It's a PITA switching from race to street gas though. In the end, you will hate having to do it. If you guys don't have it (E85) all over the place in FL, then it's not going to be worth running it. We don't have it hear either, it's pretty stupid IMO.

Ya you max out injectors quite quickly on e85. I already spoke with him and it looks like 1200's are needed based on your goals.

Theres 3 gas stations here in Miami that have e-85 so I shold be good. and at 1.65 a gal Im loving it!!

I dont think you want to run it at the dragon with the numbers I KNOW Mase will get out of it... Keep it safe I dont think I can make it this year to the dragon...

ha ha, oh yeah, you can have fun at the dragon with 100whp I don't push it too hard there, just enough to have fun. low boost will still be around 400whp (guessing) so needless to say I'll be on low boost and short shifting a lot the blue ridge is where I'll have to be a little more careful, that's got some nice open sections that can be very tempting I was getting into triple digits here and there on my 240whp CRX

stinks you won't be able to go this year. I'm going with clubhonda the same dates as s2ki, should be a tons of S2000's out there

You want your low boost setting at 400HP? Why on earth would you want that? Is this your first high power car?

My point exactly, why would you want your low boost setting to achieve no traction? On my civic I play with my speed/boost settings to achieve the fastest acceleration WITH traction. When all I can do is break lose, I turn down the boost at that speed.
