Default '91 DX Cat-Back

Ok, so I'm new to Civics, and I just bought a '91 Civic DX hatch. I plan on doing a swap of some kind (probably B-series) in the near future. The cat smells like it's stopped up, so I'm planning on buying a straight pipe and a cat-back, and I was wondering what cat-back you guys would recommend. Thanks in advance!

dude, this is very dependent on what you like. 1) dont throw the cat away because you'll probably need it to pass visual inspection 2)you'll probably lose hp/tq with a test pipe if you're not making enough back pressure for one 3) do you want to be obnoxiously loud or quiet and ballzy? my personal choice is quiet and ballzy, get something like a ws2 or a sp2, if you have the money for one.. if not get custom pipin 2.5" with a resonator and a megan dual 3" tip muffler

1. No inspections where I live. :D

2. Not looking to make it sound extremely loud, just want to give it a more aggressive tone.

3. As for the backpressure issue, I assume any aftermarket cat-back will flow more freely than stock, so I will already have less backpressure, so what would you guys recommend?

whats your financial situation? if you dont want it to be loud ws2 or sp2 like i said, if not get some 2.5" piping from kteller or meneike and a 2.5" es tuning muffler and your choice of tip...yeah the aftermarket exhaust flows more freely but i wasnt referring to the cat-back i was referring to the catalytic converter part, you'll more than likely sound ricey with a test pipe and like i said you need some back pressure if you don't produce enough. now if you had a built h23a or a k20 or a turbo car than id say sure go with a test pipe

Cool, thanks guys. Pretty sure I'm going to stick a cat on it now and go with one of the Apexi cat-backs.

Cats are over rated.
