Default First Honda, have a question about possible engine problems

So I just bought my first honda civic, dont really know that much about cars. Only other car I've owned was a ford escort, and it drives way different then my honda which leads me to my question....

Car feels like it shifts great and takes off great, cant really notice any slippage or anything BUT when im driving in any gear and I take my foot off the gas pedal sharply (or even slowly once I reach a certain point near almost having my foot off the gas pedal) I feel like my car shakes back and forth for a second or two.... almost like my engine is like rocking back and forth or slipping. When I take my foot off the gas should it be a little choppy or just a smooth deceleration??? Could it be bad parts like a gerabox or clutch??? just hit 110k and from the looks of the engine nothing has been replaved yet. Any help into this would be cool. It might be fine but I just want to make sure.

By the way..... my car is a 2001 honda civic coupe EX 5 speed. Has the vtech engine in it.
Thanks,
Aaron

In regards to your problem, you may want to look into replacing, or at least checking out, one of the engine mounts. I'd start with the back one.

What you're describing is a fairly normal behavior for manual transmission cars in first or second gear. Since you said "any gear" though, I'd look into a few other things. I doubt it's a transmission or clutch issue so far.

Since you say you don't think the car has had any maintenance done and it's at 110K miles, you need to get that timing belt changed, and do the water pump while you're at it. If that thing fails, you're in trouble, and it's about that time.
