Miata 90-93 alloys on 2000 Civic EX?
I have a 97 Miata and an extra set of 90-93 alloys from a 92 I used to own. I know the bolt pattern is the same, the offsets are pretty close, and that I'd need to have the wheels' center bored out to 56.1mm, but do they clear the Civic's brakes? Also, given that she has steel wheels right now, how much weight savings am I looking at? I know the factory Miata alloys are approx 12.5 lbs each. How much do the steel wheels weigh?
shouldn't be that much of a weight savings maybe 10 to 15 pounds total and yes they will fit being as the stock brakes on a civic are like 2 inches
they clear the brakes. i had them on my old 96 ex coupe. and yes, i had the wheels bored.
steel wheels weigh i think 14.5 lbs each. the miata sunflowers weigh about 12.5lbs.

Wow, the stock steelies are only 14.5 lbs? The Miata's steel wheels (14x5.5) are 18 lbs! If the difference is that slight I may just sell the alloys. My wife doesn't autox or race the car, but I know that wheel weights make a huge difference in handling feel and make the car feel a bit peppier, at least in the Miata. 6.5 lbs would be a huge difference, 2 lbs not so much.

That's perfect, thanks. I have my winter alloys painted bronze as well, though I think I'll do the wife's alloys in silver. How much did you spend to get the center bore machined?
i took it to a shop and they charged me $20/wheel. came out perfect and didn't set me back too much since i got the wheels for free. you could probably just use some wheel spacers to avoid the cost of boring the wheels.
btw, nice roadster.

Thanks, it'll be going into the body shop soon as I was rear ended by a Nova right before Christmas.
Did you come from steel wheels to the alloys? If so, did you notice much improvement in the car? I notice just a few pounds in the Miata, though it's a few hundred pounds less than the Civic.

Wow, this is funny... I too have a 1997 Mx5 M-Edition and a like new set of stock 1990-93 Miata wheels that Id like to put on my 2000 Civic Ex! Ive read that the Miata wheels even once bored out to fit the hubs of the civic wont clear the EX brake calipers! Can someone please confirm that they will clear, I know that the 2000 EX has 10.5" front brakes, and the other civics have smaller.. Im new to the Civic community, I just hate my stock steel wheels and hub caps!
Don't fit on the EX? The 94-97 and non-sport NBs have 10.2" brakes, IIRC. Did the EXes get an upgrade in their later years? MiMiK said (and showed) that they fit on his 96 EX.
It's creepy that my name is also Matt B.
