Default Help please! h22a4 tranny problem!!!

Hello everyone i have a 2000 prelude sh with a h2a4 engine. My problem is that everytime a put the car into drive it waits like some seconds then it engage, it happenes the same if a put it on reverse waits then acts. When driving the car and come to a complete stop the rpm's go up and down making the car to move foward like if im accelerating it, then that stops and then car seems to get into neutral, then accelerate again and have to wait some seconds til it engage. i tried to raise the rpm's a litle bit but makes the rpms go up and down and car when puting on drive is like if im giving gas the stops gas then stops like that. Also notice car is automatic and when car is uphill is like if im driving a standard cause if i realese brake it stars going back, only cel i got is the catalytic converter i don't have one. please help some one with this problem before? help help!!!!!

sounds like your tranny is toast. mine did the same thing like 3 weeks ago. im waiting its replacement right now. M6HA auto(tragic) trannys are notorious for failing. how many miles on your car?

Wait. The Prelude SH does not come with an automatic transmission. And what is the M6HA transmission?

The Prelude SH is the USDM version of the JDM Type S, both cars are only available with a standard transmission. If you have an SH, your wheels look like this:

The TypeS badge is fake. You have a base model USDM Prelude.

The answer to your problem is...Don't drive automatics.

Take it to a tranny shop to give you a better answer. Some shops will inpect it for free to give you an idea of whats going on and what needs fixing. If you want, change the Tranny fluid to see if that helps.

Like what the others said, your wifes car is not a type-s, base model with fake badges...but nothing wrong with a base model. Since the 'Lude is getting some high miles, you may want to look into swapping for a new tranny. The autos for these 5th gens arent the greatest. Good luck with your fixings.

You're better off selling the car and buying a 5spd.

Hey guys I got 2 questions about my gear box in my 01 SH. (1) The gears don't shift smooth (i bought it like that recently). It engages fine, no delays but just not smooth, what do you think?
(2)...I'm also looking to upgrade and get high performance gear box parts but someone mentioned that the S2000 gear box fits the SH...is this a myth or is there some meat to that?

fix your idle issues first before you bring it to a tranny shop. check the FITV, IACV and check for any vacuum leaks. if you maintain a constant idle and you still have the same problems THEN it would make sense to bring it to a tranny shop.

Yeah, problem is women don't know ANYTHING about cars, which is one of the reasons why they shouldn't be allowed to drive. But that's a completely different topic. Glad we could help.

South Gate! I live by the park... I havent seen you around?

Anyway, sounds like the transmission is dying... Eeek!
If you plan to do a 5spd swap, tell me I did it myself and can help you out :D

I've actually got an auto transmission sitting at my house... Kinda deciding whether or not to sell it... I'll def let you know if I do.

Anywho, most mechanics are probally going to tell you to just flop it out and put one in with less miles.

Just swap it with a 5spd, you wont regret it :D
