Default fuel issues and maint req. light?

I started my car after work tonight and i let the fuel pump prime, and when i started the car, the fuel gauge pegged at 100. i turned the car off, turned it back on and it was at 45 where it should be.

Both times i started the car, the maint req' light blinked about 8-10 times and then went off. I drove home and throughout the drive, the fuel gauge went to zero for about 3-4 minutes then restored itself back to 45psi. It did this twice.

Its weird the check engine light only blinks that 8-10 times if i turn the key (i dont even have to start it) or start the car, but goes off and doesnt light again until i shut the car off and turn the key again.

I popped the hood while engine was running and didnt notice any fuel smell.

any ideas? car seems to run fine in the 7 miles i drove it

maint. light usually means its time to service ur car like oil changes etc...u can reset that easily...the fuel gauge probably is an issue so have that check out by the dealer..also might help if u tell us what car it is

94 gsr.

It is an autometer phantom electronic fuel pressure gauge. You would think that if it pegged at 0 psi for more than a couple of seconds and the reading was accurate, that the car would just sputter and die brecause of lack of fuel.

1. either your fuel gauge crapped out or something is wrong with the wiring.

2. just reset the damn light! eventually it'll stay on, the blink is just to warn you service is due soon.
