well having the chute installed in the off season, i havent hit the elusive 150 yet but went 147 with 8psi still left in the bag, and just felt like the car wouldnt stop, so i said the hell with it and had joe install the damn thing.
when should it be pulled? i mean i see some pro guys with it all the way out as they cross. should it be under power? lift then pull?
these are then things i dont know.
what should i expect? (other then the obvious negative g's and the car slowing down.)

The chute doesn't pull up though. It pulls back. I can see how leverage plays into what your saying though.
Now depending on the type of throw you have on the chute can determine the type of 'snap' it has on the car, along with the size of the chute.
Ex: If your chute is thrown far up in the air, when it catches, it will lift the rear of the car up.
Basically, you want it mid mounted and slightly aimed upward. Somewhere in the bumper area is best. That way it has an even pull on the car.

Dude, you know that's totally different.
Those chutes battle each other from the second they are pulled.
Since we are looking at Jenny's pics here are a few more that relate to this thread....

you dont think the wing has any role in how that chute catchs ? the air fumbling from under the car on a SFWD type car is more likely to push the chute up. as opposed to a car with a pro stock wing..
if i could find the picture of steves(HR-1320) car, the chute is way up in the air, even with the wing. with the low tag point.

TO answer your question mikey
u want to pull the chute, when under full throttle until it engages, then u can let out
u dont want to lift prior, so the suspension doesnt unload until after chute is slowin ya down
and i also agree getting better pads is certainly the way to go, and pull the chute only when have too
we shall see how my car reacts to more MPH this year, but i never have a problem slowing down, which the brake setup i have

ok, here is a picture, but not the one i was looking for, as you can see in the picture the chute tag line is on an upward angle, had the chute tag mount been higher in the car, the chute would help pull the back of the car down, not letting it get "so light" when the chute is pulled. the wing should help push the chute down.
here is another thread with Parachute disscusion.

i know about the pads, and rotors, like i said i have a fear of cutting the front tires.
these replies make sense. thanks everyone.
i think i have the chute mounted in the middle it isnt too low, and as far as the tug point it is level with the trunk floor. not down in the bumper support like felix or tony's.

Boostfeen can you post a side shot of your chute? to see how far away the chute mounts.
Also is it a air launcher chute?

mikey your set up on your car is what i did on my civic, and i loved it. i wish i had that set up again! my current set up in my car sucks, and i think its just the chute its self.
in my civic i could pull the chute at 60 or 160 on or off the gas, it didnt matter. my current set up no matter what you do the car goes all over the place and its scary, i hate it.
my coupe would NOT stop with out the chute (much like your car, civic brakes) however my integra stops no problem with integra brakes so i quit pulling the chute.
i want to put another simpson chute on my car, BAD. our spfwd cars must be too heavy for the stroud or something. when i drove darrens car, it was cary too. tony, felix, ferguson, my car, darrens car, and plenty others have all complained about our cars wondering all over the place when the chute hits on one occasion or another. and personally i find the simpson chute easier to pack regardless of whateverybody says. that little stupid bag can kiss my *** lol

Mikey, why not go to Cecil or Atco and just do some easy mid 130 passes no burnouts and pull the chute to get the hang of it? I know that is what I would do instead of cranking up the boost and then going ***** out on the chute for the first time.
