Icon2 clutch questions...

ok, i need to replace the clutch on my car soon (1992 prelude SI), and i was thinking about buying a performance clutch. i was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into what type of clutch kit i should be purchasing? my car isnt heavily modded, only a CAI atm, but i plan on doing more in the future. i dont drag race either. im looking for a clutch that can handle everyday driving on curvy mountain roads and not burn out like the OEM replacement i had installed like 3yrs ago. something that will maybe help put more of what HP i got to the ground.
i was also thinking about a lightweight flywheel as well since i'll be in there anyway, would that be a good idea on a DD?

any insights would be helpful, since im going to be doing the job myself.

oh, and since im gonna DIY it, should i be replacing my axles as well? if so, are any recommendations there?

thanks

I'm going to be doing this soon and I've done some of the research for you. Your main choice for flywheels is the Fidanza 8lb Aluminum or the ACT 12lb Chromoly. The aluminum flywheel is cheaper but cannot be resurfaced. Instead you have to buy replacement parts. I don't know the price of the replacement parts. The chromoly flywheel can be resurfaced, nothing additional required. The cheapest price I've seen for the Fidanza is $155 shipped to your door. The cheapest price I've seen for the ACT is $275 shipped.

For the clutch, I don't recommend anything higher than stage 1 or 2. You really don't need anything beyond a stage 1 unless you plan on heavily modifying it to put down more than ~230whp. ACT and Exedy are good brands. I would go with a full disk instead of the puck variety. And make sure that the matching pressure plate is not incredibly stiff. I don't have prices for you. Check eBay or google.

I see no reason why you would need to replace your axles.

I had a fidanza 8lb on mine with a stage 2 exedy...me personally would go with a stage 3 with stock pressure plate with is what im going to be doing my self pretty quickly...the reason for stock pressure plate is cuz the higher stage clutch the stronger plate becomes and also if the the disc has springs in it or not
