Timing belt split in half!
Has this ever happened to anyone? I cant figure out what it rubbed on. Crank positioning sensor? Nothing looked out of the ordinary when I took off the timing belt covers.
I have had that happen to a car i worked on..... the problem was that the two big washers on the crank pulley were not there...the ones that gone before and after the timing belt is put on...... you might want to check on that and leave what you find out on the board

Ill check tomorow if the one before the timing belt is there. The one after is definitely there.
Thanks mang, im kind of worried of putting everything back together until I find what went wrong.

Another possibility is the bolt holding the tensioner bearing is bent. Put it back together with a new belt and turn it over by hand several times to see if the belt stays in line with the pulleys/gears. Make sure the water pump is not doing anything weird too.
Apparently they way they ramp is so agressive the cam gears flex/vibrate enough to snap belts...its been YEARS so I may have confused this with their springs but from what I recall is most likely valvetrain related....I'll do a search to confirm but thats what I remember off the top of my head with the C's..."they eat belts" was the avg response
Tried searching but can only go back to like 2006 or so...some of the others who have been here a while may chime in with their own Type C cam stories...valvetrain flex - belt snapping is a problem on big cams though...I thought the Greddy/Toda belts would last longer under those extreme cases though...might be a "grinding action" somewhere though...
Good luck

Difference between snapping, and rubbing, that belt has signs of rubbing. Half the belt is gone, shut just doesn't happen like that. If it was slipping off, it would be the outer half that would of rubbed away first. As for the belt drive washer, they changed the style and the gear on the bottom has the washer built into it, you don't need the two little washers with that.
Id check your cam journals for wear. Ive seen a few engines (not just honda) where not enough oil was getting to the camshafts, thus resulting in the cam starting to lock up. This puts a tremendous load on the belt and eventually "pulls it apart"...
FYI- This also can happen on timing chain vehicles. About 2 weeks ago, I saw a nissan with a broken chain due to no oil to the head...Hope this isnt your problem...
