Icon2 Interior Redo

So I have been searching all week trying to figure out the best way to do this.
My 92 prelude has decent interior but I want to fix it up. Dash, seats everything. I was thinking of fiber glassing but I have little experience with it.
So I am looking for some Do-it-yourself guides to fiber glass as well as interior work. I found some but they werent great.

What is the best way to change the dash color, paint that wont flake or anything. Also reupholster the seats and carpet. Or change there color.

Oh anyone ever heard of caraudiofiberglass.com ? They any good?

Whoa, first of all, let me stop you from wasting any money on learning how to fiberglass a car stereo. You can get ALL of that information plus more at your local borders or barnes and nobles for free. There's going to be a ton of books on custom this and that in the transportation section. You don't have to buy it, just read it, and study up on it until you memorize it. it's not hard.

In addition to that, there are a ton of resources on the internet on how to make custom fiberglass stuff. I mean, I don't know specifically, but there's probably another forum out there where people go to post custom sound systems.

Painting the interior is one thing, fiberglassing the interior is another. There's another thread in this forum right now from a dude that fiberglassed the dashboard on some car. And that'll give you an idea on what it takes to do that.

Lay the fiberglass down first, let it dry, sand it, skim some body filler on it, sand it smooth, lay down primer, sand it smooth. seal and paint. Or just skip sealer, and paint.

Expect to take all the pieces you want to fiberglass out of the car. Expect to pay a good amount (not a ton, but a good amount, maybe a couple hundred for the paint and clear) of money for the paint, so it doesn't chip or crack.

I don't know anything about carpet or seat upholstery, can't help you there.

if you want to just paint interior pieces another color, you can probably use the krylon fusion rattle can paint on the plastic trim pieces. (just wipe it down with a wax and grease remover before applying the paint) If I remember correctly, your prelude has a weird vinyl/rubber main dash yes? If so, you might be able to use a vinyl dye. I've never used anything like that, so couldn't tell you how it would turn out.

Good luck with your project.

Basically everything. What is the best way to do it? Do they make kits for 92 prelude interiors? Or is it basically strip it and use it for an outline and sew a new one? I would rather avoid that though.

Redoing the interior looks great when its done, but can be a real pain. before i would do it, i would look around at any car really and find something that catches your eye, then tweak it to fit your cars interior. You have to remove everything of course, and make sure you do light even coats to avoid running. it might take alot of coats too, liek if your going from black to yellow, takes alot of yellow. i think i used 6 or 8 cans on my dash and middle consoles to make them look good. i also touched up black on everything that was going to be left balck, just to make it look newer.
