im replacing the driver side quarter panel on my 96 hb dx and i was wondering if anyone had access to hondas recommended way to do it. Im planning on sectioning it on the rocker, c pillar and on the spot welds behind the tailllight and quarter window but would like to do it according to honda says to do it if they have a specific way. Srry about the run on sentences

 

take your window, side skirts, rear bumper, and anything else surrounding the quarter off, look for the spot welds holding your original quarter on. drill out your old spot welds and then determine a good place to cut above the window. then take your new quarter and pretty much spot weld the areas that were welded from the factory and weld the top portion above the window. make sure you use some good etch primer so you don't have any rust issues.
I'm not a body man but hopefully that helps you out some? i've never heard honda having guidelines to this, its mostly in the hands of the person doing the work to find the way that works the best.

best way is to replace the whole quarter from rocker to pillar, door to bumper. U want to be able to use as many spot weld as u can with very little welding across sheet metal. Honda's way is whatever way makes them the most money.

 

I know cadilac has guidelines and i was told in college to always get the manufacturers guidelines so i figured most manufacturers did

 

they do but any car the best way to fix a quarter is replacing as much of it as you can to preserve the structural integrity
