I mean does my harness plug into the back of the gsr cluster do I just modify my harness and plug it in after i take the time to switch everything or do I have to get the harness out of a junkyard and attach it to the civic harness

In a nutshell:

Get your hands on the plugs that go with the Gsr cluster. Chop off your Civic plugs. Solder the Gsr plugs on. Plug in cluster. Drive.
