Default P72 Rod markings??

Hello, I am putting together a 99 gsr block with parts iv aquired and bought. all parts are new or used oem. i have a set of used oem p72 connecting rods and pistons. On the wide face of the rod two of them have a II .. then the other two have a I . on them. I have no idea what these markings are? All the normal markings are there like on the side of the cap and rod there is the number for bearing selection. In the service manual it is showing an R stamped where my II .. and I . are stamped saying it should face the timing belt. Mine dont have the R so Im guessing my markings are there indicating this should face timing belt (which it does face the timing belt). but still why are there a I and a II?? is there a difference? Any help will be greatly appreciated for my piece of mind.
