What does Whistling mean. .. ..
Okay, I have a gsr in my hatch, no name intake, spectra filter. Whistles at partial throttle, I'm not sure if it whistles without intake just yet. Will find out tomorrow.
Friends DA, whistles with no intake, intake, and filter, and no filter. It's in the throttle body. Or maybe the im? also has a gsr with blox intake manifold, the plain looking one.
Now the question? Is the whistle a sign of Corrupted airflow or high flowing air? Is it a sign of turbulence, or really high velocity of air going through? Or a leak in the Intake manifold?
I'll have more questions as soon as these are answered, I looked into it a little, but as the night grows I'm getting tired and I need to finish my application=] and I feel like this is a topic that doesn't have a definite answer. So it might get a little debatable.

It could be one of those very rare miniature factory Honda turbos spooling up in your throttle body.
A whistle is a sign of fast moving air being obstructed or being sucked through a small opening. Ether of these options will result in a very fast vibration/whistle to occur. The larger the hole the lower the pitch of the whistle. Try it with your mouth. kind of hard to make a high pitched whistle with it wide open eh! This is the same with your TB, it still whistles when it's @ WOT it's just at a lower pitch and you can't hear it over the sound of the revving engine. A 3" CAI or SRI magnifies the whistle effect. This is why Honda put resonators in the factory intake runner.

I was thinking about port matching as well. I'll try it out when I have time and hope that the high speed air isn't being obstructed anymore=].

I noticed this on my build as well. Never paid attention to what RPM it did it at. But, I have an ebay intake with that nipple unplugged as well as an unport matched blox manifold to a 68mm TB...
So, porting the IM to the same size as the TB will solve this or should I plug the nipple on the intake arm?

my motor whistles also i port matched the tb to the manifold. the manifold is ported also and i have a ported head. 3 inch short ram with a velocity stack.
it only whistles at a certain load about 1/3 throttle.
the 01-05 civics whistles from factory lol. the second gen crvs also if you listen really hard.

It is the nature of air movement past the throttle plate to whistle. It's going to happen and it all depends on the setup how audible it is. You can port match to your hearts content. If the conditions are right, air speed in conjunction with the throttle plate position, it's going to whistle. If you don't want to hear it put your stock intake tube back on or add some sort of resonator to your current setup......good luck
For me, I had a vacuum issue once which somewhat resembled the sound of a BOV when I would let off the throttle or it would cause a slight whistle at partial throttle. After inspecting the TB it turned out to be caused from installing the gasket upside-down (yeah i know thats kinda hard to get wrong
) so since correcting it, I've had no issue's/whistling.

Part of the stock intakes job is to muffle intake noise. That is why there are so many baffles in them. If you remove the stock intake from almost any car you will get whistling from the air rushing past the throttle blade. Some cars do it more than others.
It's not impossible to get rid of and not every car does it but I am not aware of what exact steps can be taken to get rid of it. We used to just swap out throttle bodies until we found one that wasn't as noisy but that's not cost effective unless you're the one making them.
