Default Transmission Swapitty Swap?

Is it possible to swap a RSX Type S 6-speed into a regular RSX automatic? My friend is planning on going all motor, but he has an auto. I think it would be better for him to have a 6 speed manual in there to control all the power. Anyone know of this being done before? If so, can you point me to any shops that have done it, or maybe some tech pages outlining details?

Thanks a lot.
Peace.

Yea.. its called trading in the auto and getting a Type S...

Don't give me "no money" bullsh*t.. when he wants all motor.. I'll give you the formula... all motor + car = $$$

That is useful advice.

Trading his car for a Type S will be cheaper than doing a transmission swap and net him 40 hp in the process.

Trading in a modified RSX for a Type S is cheaper then a tranny swap? I'd love you to show me the math on that one. Money isn't even that big of a deal, I just want to know info on swapping the trannys (cost etc...) and any shops that have done it.

My idea of useful advice must be different then most peoples...

Modified with what? It's not like there's all that much out for the car yet.

Let me put it this way; trading for a Type-S is going to be far, far cheaper than swapping automatic to manual transmissions (which, by the way, is a big fat pain in the ***) and adding 40 always there, factory reliable hp.

If money's not that big of a deal he shouldn't think twice about trading up to an S. It's a much better platform to start with for performance applications.

I'd consider useful advice something that keeps the person in need of an opinion from kicking himself in the *** later wishing he'd done something else.

Ok, let me get this straight. Your friend has a base auto and wants to get a standard tranny and money is no issue for him?

Well the replys have gave you useful information for your friend. If money is no issue then he can afford to upgrade for the S. Whatever parts he has on his car he can take them off and transfer most of them over.

We have given you advice on what your friend can do, but take it if you want. If you do not like then leave it. Do not show us how smart you are by using profanity to try and prove your superiority, because you are failing. Next time grow up and post like an adult and maybe, just maybe you might get a little bit of respect....

Once again, you are giving me advice that I'm not asking for. I don't get how many times I have to say this. Trading to a Type-S is not an option. I thought that was obvious from my last post. Also, don't give me lessons in maturity. I know the smart *** comments people make on this board all the time, and I just don't care for them. I don't want you opinion on anything, I want advice on swapping transmissions. Nothing else. His car has a kit, rims, and engine work. He's planning on going all motor and wants something that can handle the power. Are there any companies that make custom transmissions, a dog box maybe? If you don't know anything about transmission swaps, then just don't respond. Don't tell me what my friend should do if he was you.

My advice on swapping automatic to manual transmissions is not to do it.

It's a pain in the ***, expensive and absolutely not worth it considering that he easily trade his car for one just like it that has the transmission he wants, 40 extra stock hp, and better factory suspension tuning.

Frankly, your friend bought the wrong car if he wanted to modify something for performance reasons, especially if he wants NA power. That's not a smart-*** comment, just the plain truth. The best advice I can give him is to get rid of his car and buy either a Type-S or a GS-R. Then again, it sounds like he's the type of owner who is simply making a fashion statement with his car, and is not overly concerned with performance.

Nevermind. I don't care what your friend does.

I understand what you're trying to say, believe me. I have the same point of view you do. I'm the one who's convinced him to get rid of the body graphics, get rid of the wing, and do engine mods. Now that he's actually getting into engine mods, he wants to do a shitload. I know it would be better to get the S, but it's unfortunately NOT an option. So ANY information on transmission swaps would be fantastic. Thank you.

Ok, once again I will tell you what to do. You first ask for advice on what he can do, and we tell him what to do. We all know that a automatic to manuel swap is very expensive and to much hassle and in the end not worth it. We inform you to tell your friend that he is better off getting a type S because cost wise it would cost him less. You then tell us that money is no problem to your friend and that he wants to keep his car. Then you have the nerve to try and start **** with everyone that tries to help you. Granted some of the replys were a little smart ***, but a few actually gave you good advice.

We told you that the best way to go was to have your friend get the type S and trade in his base. You then tell us that your friend has mods on his car and thats why he wants to keep it, then you tell us that he has alot of money once again. Well if he has so much money and it is no problem for him, then I think he can afford to trade the base for a type S and have plenty of money to get mods. And for the most part he can just bring the parts from the base and transfer them to the type S. We keep telling you this and you come back with a smart *** comment, then ask for "more" advice... We can only tell you so much before you get anoying. We keep telling you the same thing over and over and over.

In the end the point we are trying to get across is that the best thing for your friend to do is to get rid of the base, because it will be a big hassle for him to try an get a manuel tranny to replace his automatic.

For the extra couple of grand he can get a 6 speed manuel transmission, 40 more hp, and better suspension and braking.
From the amount of money he will be spending on the swap, it would probably be less expensive for him to get the type S, plus he gets more for the money he is going to spend. Plus you also said he has a kit and other stuff on his car, well I am pretty sure the dealership can offer him the same color car he has now, so he does not have to pay extra money to get it re-painted. Plus the dealership where he got the car will more then likely work him a deal. So if you want take my " ADVICE " or not,but at least I tried to help you. So if you like what I have to say then fine, if not oh well..
