piston to valve clearance?
I searched this topic, but couldn't find an answer. So I'm hoping u guys can help me.
If i put H22 Type-S pistons, DH racing headgasket, and flat faced valves in 1 of my H motors, either a JDM H22a or an H23a vtec, to raise compression will i have issues with piston to valve clearance or any other issues? If so, how would i go about solving that, by modifying the pistons themselves? I would be running skunk2 stage2 tuner cams with the setup, so it wouldn't be a stock piston to valve clearance. The DH racing headgaskets measure at .0014. So I'm under the impression the Type-S pistons would stick out farther than usual with that thin of a gasket and that aggressive of a cam, and maybe i should just stick with stock valves to see if they would have better clearance although i wouldn't gain a compression bump from them. Anyone got any answers?

damn thats alot to do lol. I don't have any of the motors disassembled yet, I just wanted to know before i went out and finished buying parts :/
clay your motor! dont take someone elses second had knowledge, its not difficult. get some body clay and a 6in rule/depth gauge and there ya go. c-speedracing.com.

Once i get the procedure down pact, i'll def check em. Just wanted to know if anyone had answers beforehand. I'm not gonna do the valves anymore anyway, i'll go stock valves w/oem 2 layer gasket, and work with that.
I have a jdm h22 with bc stage 3 all motor cams, bc springs and retainers and dh racing headgasket and valves. I have no clearance problems at all degreed cams to i think 2 deg. adv.
i am running skunk 2 tunnner stage 2 cams with stock type s pistons
i measured the p2v with no head gasket and the head had been resurfaced and it had clearence ,it was tight probally like .008-.005 to tight but this was with no head gasket... so even with a head gasket it is close
but it was clearence,,,,it was also tested it with the cam gears agressive probally
more agressive than the cam would require......
i just broke the motor in too and have had no problems with p2v
i hit vtec more than once too,, i pulled the head no pitting on the pistons, valves look good...
stay tunned to dyno results on my set-up
it is an approx 12.0.1 cr motor,h22 on e85 with n20 also

also,, maybe my motor has something different going on with it,,,
nah2b do you have any insite on the clearence on of the stg 2 cams
i know the type s piston stick out far,,,, but i have tested it and car is currently running
right now,,, getting ready to dyno in like 10days,,,,, im sure i tested it correctly it was locked in vtec when i tested.....just looking for an expericenced opinion,,,,, it has eagle rods,,
