OK here is the deal...

I am looking for a 98 and up Acoord Lx for my wife.

I found a 98 LX/auto with 48K miles. $11500 It is being sold by the Honda dealer....

I also found a 2001 LX/5 speed with 16K miles for $11000.

The 2001 is a theft recovery. (slavage title) It was stolen more than a month, therefore the insurance company clamed it as a loss....

It hasn't been recked and the engine looks brand new.....

It drives fine and while aplying the brakes to a complete stop from 100 mph behaves great.....

What would you do? I suppose there are no differences between the 01 and 98 models.

Thanks for your opinion on this.

I know that the salvaged title car will be hard to sell in the future but I do like the fact that it only has 16K miles.

On the other hand I know the 98 accord only had one florida owner and he was retired as well...(No burnouts )

I would go with the '01 just because of the mileage. You are getting a hell of a deal, and I think it is better not to pass it up.

 

the 01 lx looks like a great deal. make sure your wife wont get sick of driving a 5 speed and wont get sick of the car cause the car will be a little harder to sell like you said.

 

get the 01 because of hte 5 speed. the auto will hardly get out of it's own way. the 5-spd at least has a little pep though.

I am torn because only a few banks will deal with salvage titles......

Therefore the rate is kind of high.....

And if I buy the 01 then I need to spend another 4K to turbo the F23A1.

On 16K miles, that would be interesting to see what happens.....

Anyway, I need to make a decision and I cannot decide.



I will try to have either one by the end of the week.
