Default omghi2u S2K Section

Dear S2000 Kewl People,

I am looking at possibly upgrading and buying a 2006 GPW S2000. After doing research seems these guys trade in value for the car is roughly $17k (35k miles on it). They are asking $21k, but I feel I could talk them down - especially in this economy.

Are there any pertinent issues on the 2006 model year? It has a black interior which is what I want but I thought they were just that red/black and tan/black. Is it a possibility it was swapped out?

I know it's lame (AP1 > AP2) but is within my tolerable price range. Insurance is approximately 600/6 months for me so not much more than my ricemobile Accord.

the legend of GDD!

06+ S2000's have VSA and are DBW. don't think whether or not it makes a difference but just thought you should know. in addition to vehicle stability assist and drive by wire, i think it had brake assist as well. some welcome the change; some argue that it takes away from the whole "pure sports car" experience.

06+ in GPW no longer had the tan/black or red/black option. interior differences also include not having the hole in the headrest anymore... so the interior is most likely intact and wasn't swapped.

since i helped you, please don't track me down. kthx

Hahah you're safe from me!

DBW and VSA - eh I guess not horrible and livable with. I am quite a fan of the white/black combo and have only found one or two like it. The other models were all the red and tan with black.

So in an effort to get a better feel, I drove my friends for about an hour today (AP1) and got some more info from him. He had the 4.56 gears in the diff and RPF1's god it was fun haha.

I may hold off and try to get an 02 or 03 AP1 and so I have the 9k rev limiter (awesome) and he said they seem to have depreciated more = cheaper for me and room for mods

one thing that was up with the 06 was that the dash started to buble one some of them cause honda used a diff glue and it sucked and dealers dont want to cover it

'06 was the only year that GPW came with the all black interior.

true that 05 ap2 no lights when swapping out seats, swapping out the steering wheel with no lights! no dbw the crisp responsive throttle, sexy sounding itbs, no brake assisting, no vsa the line between rawness/daily drivability. also heard the 06 have dbw lag while the 07 and up have fixed this or you can just get the hondatareflash!

i would suggest 04-05 if you must have an AP2
if you like modding a raw feeling car, then the AP1 is for you. I don't see the difference between 00-03 but many people will argue that their is a holy difference justifying a huge price difference. (im cheap so 3-4k is huge to me )

dont know what the market is like wherever you are but here in california 00-01's sell for ~ 8-10k in decent condition where the 02-03 ask for 12-14k. and the whackiest part is AP2's (04-05 which is the most desirable ap2 IMO) go for 15k some times.

Yep, I'm looking into it. I"ll probably go AP1 and get like an 03? Thanks for all the input guys.

Put my car up for sale to get some feelers for it so that'll also dictate what I go for - if I can get asking price for it I'll spring for an AP2 04/05

AP1 will save you some money, I'd personally would go AP2 04-05 if you can afford it. I would avoid the newer ones with the DBW, that's annoying and limits you from running an AEM for you want to add power

Yeah I'd like to avoid it if I can, but if I can get a good deal on one with it I won't pass it up.

My biggest concern is to get the rear glass and leather console with the least amount of miles as possible for my range.
