Nitrous for D-Series Q's..
Posted this on D-Series but I figured I could use more than one or two opinions.... Yeah, I know, lots of questions...
Done my research (mostly) and now I have a few questions... My plans are for a DD that can handle light racing and a few track days here and there, but still kick ***. So I've decided on a Vtec-D, not sure between the D15B and the D16Z6 though. I'm not going D16Y8 because of the oil pump issues that seem apperant in high-hp cars.
Future plans for the motor (after the swap into my CRX, I/H/E and cam) would be Nitrous. Start small with the basics, then at some point have it tuned so I can have a non-nitrous basemap, then when I turn the nitrous system on, it switches map to the Nitrous one, and all the timing changes are done on there..
But since I'm swapping the motor in, I thought about doing a fresh re-build and possibly high-comp build up from the get-go. Save cash and time. But I'm not sure if I should dish out $500+ for a D15B Vtec when pistons and crank can be hard to find...
So....
1.) How hard is it to find Nitrous or High-Comp pistons for the D15B VTEC?
2.) What are alternative pistons for the D15B?
3.) I haven't seen this anywhere, do you want Low, Mid, High Compression for Nitrous?
4.) Outside of Fuel and Engine Management, what would I need to do internally to run a 100hp+ shot?
5.) What are some sites that I can shop for engine parts for these engines?
6.) What's a rough build that I want for a Nitrous motor, be it a D15 or a D16?
7.) Direct Port seems like the best bet for a 100hp+ shot on a D15B/D16XX, am I correct in that?
8.) If so, what are some good (complete) Direct Port Kits?
9.) Is a Hondata S300 worth it or should I get my ECU chipped (Chrome, TurboEdit, so on)?
10.) Also, what is the max I would be able to spray on a stock D16A6, Z6, D15B Vtec? I would assume it's up to the ~220whp mark, where Turbo guys generally stop in fear of the rods snapping?
11.) Is stainless/other valves really necessary to spray a 100-125hp shot?

well first off since your car wouldn't be high horsepower all the time the oil pump issue on the d16 wouldn't be an issue, since the longest i can imagine you would be spraying is 20 seconds
if you ran the d16 you could run vitara pistons from fjt who also make rods for the vitara's because if you use these pistons with normal rods it drops the compression to about 7.5:1 go here http://www.fjdistributors.com/ to see what they have piston and rod wise. im pretty sure with the new rods they sell for the vitara pistons it makes the compression ratio 8.5-9.0 for either the d15 or d16 which is ideal for forced induction of any type including nitrous
in my opinion 9-9.5 is the safest compression ratio to spray on yeah you can spray on a lot higher compression but the tune has to be almost perfect to not mess anything up
direct port is definately the way to go and almost any nitrous company sells a 4cyl direct port kit NOS, nitrous express, edelbrock. Im not sure zex offers a direct port kit or not
i would get hondata or neptune.......chrome has a few glitches i've heard and you don't want a glitch spraying
you may not be able to spray to the 220whp mark on a stock motor because of the instant shock
if i was to use nitrous and only nitrous no supercharer or turbo, i would definately invest in a progressive nitrous controller FOR SURE because it could easily make your motor last plenty longer due to not hitting it all at once but progressively increasing the amount of nitrous for instance your drag racing you could set it up to progressive increase the nitrous to the point that you barely have traction but still have traction, next gear same thing, so on and on and by the time you get to the last gear your going to be in you may be able to handle a 200-250 shot and still keep traction and increasing speed and lowering your ET
get what im saying here about the progressive controller?
and the vitara pistons have been pushed to 500whp and they are just the stock pistons from a suzuki vitara but they are hella tough i haven't seen any carnage of vitara setups that had blown up and on the compression the lower the compression the more you can spray safely, just like the way if your turbo the lower the compression the more you can boost
thats about the best i can do on my little bit of d series knowledge hope it helps
WARNING
this is to the best of my knowledge on the nitrous part, so if im wrong hopefully someone with more knowledge will correct me

Read (both) the official nitrous threads here, all the nitrous threads on D-Series, and a good number on a few other forums. The threads don't go into enough detail, I'm one of those people that like to know how something works inside and out before it's purchased..
Care to elaborate?

loz, all the way.
You DID NOT READ THE 'OFFICIAL NITROUS THREAD'
I know the answer to each question and then some because when I 1st became intrested in Nitrous I spent 7 nights (after work, 2-3 hours a night) reading the entire 48 page (50 now) thread. There is even a recent discussion by NOSWIZARD about pistons and how there are none available for specific nitrous use for us, Trevor even goes into detail on what the 'ideal' piston is and how to modify your existing piston to further comfort it for being sprayed.
Go read the thread, now and please. Your silly, repeitive ?'s are obvious you have done zero home work.
THREAD TESTIMATE NUMBER 1 TO: PLEASE STICKY THE NITROUS THREAD.
