Default Importing

Hi, me and my buddy are having a little arguement on how much it will cost just to ship a car over from japan, he thinks a couple HUNDRED I think a couple THOUSAND. If anyone could give us an estimate on shipping on a EF8 it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

call a dealer for actual shipping charges as prices always change...but you're going to pay close to $2000...the one thing, the most important thing, you have to woory about is getting it through customs w/o it getting crushed

you can either go through a business licensed w/ importing, or if you know of friends that import with or without licenses, >7 cars. Depending on what kind of shipping you use(ro-ro, 20 footer), the price will vary, along with the condition of the car when it arrives. Many many many cars imported will come with damage (body) due to the shipping proccess. I reccomend that you do not buy from auctions, you never know what you'll end up with.

my estimate would be in the range of ~3000$ for shipping, taxes, inspections etc.

use these sites to view prices etc.

www.tradecarview.com
www.goo-net.com

in the end, you have to ask yourself, is importing an ef8 worth it?

If you want low km's, power steering, ac, oem goodies such as glasstop cover, back seats, tube speakers, spare tire/jack, owners manual, car cover etc it will cost you and arm and a leg.

hope this helps,

btw, it'll be nowhere close to a couple houndred dollars to import, the price of the car PLUS the shipping fees.

it will most likely be in the 1000-2000 dollar range but that doesn't factor in that the car may never make it past customs. your best bet is probably have someone who has done it before or a company that does this(gspeedcorp). do more research on customs and such.

Thank you. I have proven my point to my friend. If I were to import, it would be because of the legit. of the car itself. If anyone knows non-auction JDM car buying websites, please post. Thank you.

Gotta pay to play.

Most of my peers, (nissan/toyota owners rhd) disagree with the fact of spending that much money on a honda, that isn't as fast as their twin turbo skyrine. My friend had one imported in, i beleive it was only 6700 CDN, with around 140km's on body/motor. If you do decide to import one - be carful for the radiator cap (extends towards the firewall), it will break if you lean on it.
