MT ET Street Radial 225/50/15 real world advice please
MT ET Street Radial II
225/50/15
I just took delivery of a pair, now I have some questions?
Before anyone suggests the obvious, I tried calling MT Customer Service & Tech
These guys must be real busy as I was in a queue for more than 2 hours before I gave up, the up side of the long wait is I’m now VERY aware of their new range of wheels.
I also checked up on the Tech Bulletins but this seems rather generic.
Last year I was running BFG Drag Radials 225/50/15, best performance was some place between 12 to 15 psi but boy those things need some burn out to get them hot, managed consistent 1.9 in the 60ft with inconsistent 330’s?
From my research, the MT is a leap ahead of the BFG (based on various FWD forums), which is what I’m looking for.
Full slicks are not an options, I ran M&H streets some years ago but it required lots of mods to the body work to get them things under the arches of my CRX.
MT state in the bulletins these tyres will run at their optimum with increased psi, they suggest to start no lower than 11 psi and increase by ½ psi.
I’ll be running boost by gear, launch will be 7 pounds (which equates too approx 250 wheel bhp), obviously car will require finite setting to find the sweet spot.
Any real world advise, things like heat cycling, any recommendations for best performance etc,,,,,,,,,

When they state start no lower than 11psi, were they specific about on what application? Certainly on a RWD I would run around 15psi but on a FWD, I've yielded my best 60's with around 9-10psi cold. I've ran as low as 6psi cold and it still drove relatively straight.
As I said, the Tech Bulletin on their site seems rather generic, didn’t specify particular sizes as such, more towards the range.
You know how it works; you have limited time at the track and could easily spend the day playing with the pressures etc.
The 11 they state on the site seems a a little strange to me and the comments regarding raising rather than lowering the pressure for optimum performance, I read this section about 10 times and it comes across as ambiguous to me, hence the post.

What kind of street mileage are you guys getting out of these? Obviously I don't expect much being they are kickass drag radials, but I only got 1500 miles out of my BFG's. I figure if I can get same or better mileage and better traction it only makes sense to do the switch.
