today i drove my civic and it had a hard time starting up and it made like a grind sound like something was stuck in it . so when i was driving it everytime i press on break my whole car shuts down..meaning lights turns off and music everything.. my whole guage and it turn back on in like one second. also everytime i press it happens everytime i press on breaks.

 

check your grounds, especially the thermostat ground and the transmission ground

 

my car was drowning out and almost dying a week ago. it was a combination of a dying battery and a cold tranny. once i got a new battery, i didnt have the problem anymore (after she warms up)

 

do you or did you ever have a remote start installed? remote starts use the brake pedal to shut the car down while theres no key in the ignition. if this is so, you might have a problem in that area.
