Default need help with some car problems>>>

aight im having some problems and i need to figure out how to fix them ...

1. car likes to idle surge but only when the car is warmed up ... and its surges in worse if i turn the heat on ....

2. only code im throwing is #1 (o2 sensor) i got a new one im putting on tomm.

3. i think my radiator cap isnt holding pressure .. got a new one putting on tomm.

would either of those cause my car to idle .. cause it has to be somethign with the coolant because it only surges when it gets warm ... or the 02 cause doesnt it kick on the o2 sensor when the car warms up .... what happens is my check engien light will come on when it gets warm when im driving and it will start to surge ... but like i said only code is the #1..

have some other problems also but will ask those when i get some answers to these ones ..

try cleaning your eye ack

https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/%2A%2A%2Ahow-clean%2A%2A%2A-your-iacv-k-idle-air-control-valve-1575913/

even without the radiator cap on your car should still come down to a normal steady idle. the o2 sensor issue won't affect the idle.

i have a haynes manual and it said that the o2 sensor can cause rough/sruging idle ... but if the radiator cap isnt holding pressure cant the coolant come out and then it become low and get air bubles in the lines ... cause i think that might be the problem... cause it does become short of low after a couple days .. and i have already cleand my iacv it didnt help much ..

you could try replacing the iacv seal.

and i dont mean to drive the car around without the cap on, but if you were bleeding the coolant system and everything else is working properly it should idle nicely before you have to put the cap on. and although haynes sais it could cause a surging idle, its very unlikely. its almost always iacv, fitv, vaccum line issues.

oh i wasnt meaning drive around with it off either ... but it wouldnt idle correct if it has air in the lines ... and the seal on my iacv looks new .. so i dont think it needs replaced .. but i will know if it was the cap or the o2 sensor tomm when i change them and also change my oil ...... oh and what o2 sensor is located in the exhuast manifold ... upstream or downstream?

what do you mean what o2 sensor. there is only one and its right there in the exhaust manifold. there are no o2 sensors downstream of the cat on obd0 cars. only obd2 cars have sniffer o2's that detect if the cat is functioning properly.

change the hose, drain your coolant out at the same time,Refill your coolant(full).Let the car idle with the radcap off and the heat on full for about 2-3mins.Should get any bubbles/air pockets out of the system, goodluck.

replaced the thermostat and im still having the problem .... how do i check the fan to see if its working if i dont have a ohm meter ..can i just run a ground and a hot to the battery to see if it kicks on? then take the wires back off ... the temp guage never goes over halfway so i cant tell when it gets to warm ... so idk what is wrong with that ... and idk if the fan is working or not ... if it isnt i'll prob end up getting a smaller half radiator and a slim fan ... make my bay look alittle better

bleed the system properly, use the bleeder valve, it normally takes a while for the fan to come on if your just idling it, maybe 20 min or more. you can test it though by jumping power to it. your surging is more then likely air in the system affecting your iac, theres also the fast idle control valve.

i dont have a fitv and my car is now overheating after changed the 02 sensor and put a new radiator cap on .. busted upper radiator hose ... replaced it .. and now some other hoses are leakign ... so tomm. im gonan replace all heter hoses and radiator hoses ... i also replaced the thermostat today. fan i hot wired it to the battery and it worked but that wa swith a extra groudn ran and a hot to the battery wouldnt work with jsut a hot to the battery ... so i think my wires are bad or its wired wrong ... so tomm if its not raining or snowing im gonan do all new hoses and rewire it until i get a new fan cause miens kinda broke chips on the blades =( ... hopefulyl i can get it to run rght ....... and i know it has to do the surge cause of air in the lines cause it only does it after it warms up and the coolant starts to drain cause of the leaking ...

have you bled the system properly??? one way to check your water pump is to turn the heat on while the temp is half way or above, and see if your blowing hot air or not. be careful as well too many over heats can cause a blown headgasket, if not already...theres a fan switch on the back of the block which tells the computer to turn the fans on, its a 2 wire connector, you can try to jump those and see if the fans kick on....bad rad cap may be another suggestion...
