You can use an obd1 94-95 gsr harness. The us p73 have emobilizers and are obd2. So I would just get a chipped P28.

Wait, what harness is messed up. The engine wire harness, or the actual car wire harness?

well the engine wiring messed up and where the ecu plugs in you can see where it has been cut and rewired

The motor is OBD-2. The car is OBD-1

An OBD-2 96+ Integra engine harness is the one you need weather it's Type R or GSR. You will have extra plugs dangling at the drivers side shock tower, but they are for OBD-2 sensors your ECU doesn't read. As far as getting the GSR harness to work, you will need to extend a few plugs on the Intake manifold and double check wiring on the EVAP solenoid.

For the ECU harness, that's a different story. It would probably be easier to fix your existing dash harness than to replace it...

If you try to swtich to an ITR ECU, you will have all sorts of trouble. This means converting your entire car to OBD-2. Forget about it. You have to add all kinds of sensors to the fuel tank and more wires from the shock tower harness to the ECU. Not to mention completely rewiring the ECU, replacing the plugs, and you won't be able to tune/chip the ECU. Stick with your P28 and install a fuel cut or some other deterents I'll send you in a PM...

OBD-1 ECU shouldn't need a jumper harness in your OBD-1 car...

An OBD-1 P75 is chippable and programable. I would still stick with that.

BTW: You can't go past 5k rpm cause the ECU is stuck in limp mode becuase it can't read all it's sensors. It's going to run like this till you fix the wiring. You have some work ahead of you...

Am I sure WHAT can be used?

Safe mode is caused by sensors not being connected properly. A non VTEC ECU shouldn't throw safe mode because it has no idea the motor has VTEC. Of course that is provided the OBD is the same for before & after ECUs. Of course miss-matched fuel & timing maps (like running a B18 ECU on a B16 motor or, vice verse) can cause terrible running which could put it in safe mode.

If you didn't do the swap yourself, there is no telling exactly how it's wired up to begin with, so my suggestions may not work. I still can't understand why they would have a jumper harness, unless the ECU is NOT OBD-1. Might be worth looking into...

Probably the best way to do it is to get a custom tuned OBD-1 ECU and skip the P73. Then you could just get an jumper harness that plugs right into your existing harness. It should be much easier to convert your car to OBD-1 than OBD-2 (your car is currently pre-OBD)...

To use the P73, you would have to add a lot of things to get the ECU to work right...

It may even be still easier to get an ECU form a GSR DA integra and have it reprogrammed for the ITR motor. I don't know much about pre-OBD ECUs, so I don't know if this is possible or not...

Either way, you will still need to re-wire your stock engine harness with the plugs from the ITR harness. It's not difficult provided you get both wiring diagrams from both vehicles (ITR & DA).
