Stage II clutch
I got my Competition Stage II clutch installed on Saturday. My question is that there is a lot of vibration/hesitation going on when I go from a stop to start and also reversing. Kind of like it's going to stall. I've tried many different techniques and got nowhere. I'm not sure if this is because I'm not used to the clutch yet or if that is how aftermarket clutches work. But it's not smooth. It's smooth shifts in every gear, except for those two situations. Any advice?
my buddy has a 93 hatch with a 1.6 vtec turbo. He has a bigger clutch/or stage 1 or 2?? but his does that to. I find its easyer to feather the gas and clutch till you hit speed. I think all bigger clutches are like this. As to why they are more difficult to start i dont know. correct me if im wrong i would like to know myself . Hope that helped...
how many miles are on it so far? everytime I've installed a new clutch they all felt like that but it didn't last no longer than a day or two.
clutch disc that aren't "puck" style need at least 300-500 miles to break in. break-in = normal city driving.

do you have to resurface the flywheel when u install a new clutch? cuz i didn't..mines still running now fine. it does that too but from what i read they say thats just the breaking in stages of the clutch. the chattering or whatever..
With my last clutch, I didn't resurface my flywheel. It had clutch chatter from day one.
I just installed a new clutch last weekend. I had the flywheel resurfaced. No chatter at all.
No, you don't have to resurface the flywheel - that is, if you want clutch chatter.

I have a Exedy Stage II on my Si with a ACT Prolite Flywheel. It is not smooth. It is either in or out and right off the floor. Very, very different from the stock clutch. It takes a while to get use to it.
I have also heard of some people needing to do a pedal adjustment with a performance clutch. Maybe your not fully disengaging? I sometime wonder about mine since the second the pedal is off the floor, I am in gear. I can't tell you how many times I have stalled. There is way to adjust the pedal but it is not easy.

it'll go away i'm pretty sure. its just the breaking in process..
