1990 accord let run 5 hours now having problems
It started last night when I fell asleep around 9:00 with the car running. the heater was on low, rear defrost on (which automatically turns off), and my radio was on (1000 Watt amp). I awoke around 1:00, my radio was off but I didn't pay it any attention. I only turned the defrost and headlights on and pulled off. About a half of mile later my engine started hesitating and the batt. light was going in and out. When I reached a stop light the car shut down. I was on a hill so I let it drift back and tried to kick it. That didn't work so I jumped it and it cranked right up. I drove home (about two miles) without any problems. I turned it off and restarted it three times with out a problem. This morning it started right up. I drove about ten miles and it started acting up again. This time my rpm and speedometer guages went out. Batt. light only came on when I would stop (go out when I accelerated). Eventually it shut off when I stopped. I got a jump, it started, but the guages were still out. Made it back home and disconnected the negative batt. terminal and car shut down. That pushes me toward the alt. but what about all the other stuff going on? Would the batt. or alt. make my car act like that? For me, this is mind boggling.
i have a 93 accord and i had a similar issue where i was just driving (and had no problems before) and all of a sudden the car just shut off ( i was going 45 mph at the time) and i ended up pulling off the road. i had it towed to the shop that i have work on my car and it ended up being the distributor so you might wanna put that on your list as well
Thanks. But that would stop it from firing, the engine should still turn, correct? I think if it were the distributer that the car wouldn't start at all, right? I could be wrong but again thank you for the insight. Will look into it.

Pray to the Gods and recharge your battery.
Then test your alternator. As I mentioned elsewhere
P
Automotive common sense. You would think people would try reacharging the battery FIRST and then ask "Y mE cAR nO sTArT!?/1!!?" after doing the easiest of trouble-shooting.
