you can pull the center layer from an OEM and do the same thing. the tried and trued is cometic for a thicker gasket and OEM for a thinner. pull the center layer if you want to use a 2 layer

I thought it was discussed somewhere that you actually want to keep the center portion and pull the upper or lower to keep the coolant flow characteristics the same. I know that many guys have gotten away with removing the center section but I believe keeping the center is better.

Nopers. Get rid of the center
You need the rubber coating on the upper and lower layers to seal to the head and block.

x2 that was what i was thought........but really is it worth doing that for .2.3-4 more compression

It's cheap and easy if you're doing a new swap. It's good practice to pull the head and put a new gasket in there and that's what I did with my B16 in the day. :D

So many people misunderstand the concept of using a single or 2 layered head gasket. You don't use them to give you a bump in compression typically, you use them to FINE TUNE your final compression number to where you want it. If you build a block and cc a head that comes out to 11.3:1 and you want 11.5:1, it makes more sense to use a thinner gasket than mill the head or deck the block any further.

thats what im trying to do. My motor is factory 10.6:1 and im trying for 11:1. I figure this headgasket gives a bump .4 which will put me at where i want. It makes more sense to buy this instead of milling, swaping pistons, different valves, etc.

A 2 layer gasket won't bump your compression by .4, a single layer would. You'd have to cc the head to have a better idea of where you'd be at. Their product description is wrong.

what setup do you have i might be able to estimate where your compression is now and where it will be after the 2-layer gasket and your probably gonna get like .2 i think
