im looking to buy a 240sx shell with no engine or tranny for $400,the same guy is selling a rb-20 turbo engine and tranny with intake wiring harness ecu and everything for it to run and a 3 inch exhaust all the way back,the engine has a cracked cylinder head, and he has a guys number in cali. who will ship it and all for $200,the 240sx doesnt have a front bumper but thats all the body work it needs,is this worth it?

 

sorry to say but its probaly a scam. unless you can get pics, vin, title, and pay with a secure method its probably a scam. pluss shipping to you is prolly more then 200 dollars alone...

It's an 89 240sx coupe, paint's good just an ugly color.. Has been lowered and has tein suspension parts supporting. interior awesome, sunroof great, HUD on dash

Engine, Genuine RB20t I-6 , Currently dismantled as the guy was planning to go forged internals, Turbo in great shape, Intake mani great shape, Lower block good shape with no scoring or glazing on the walls, No ptv contact anywhere. Head has a small (3/8'') crack in the # 2 cylinder ceiling between the valves and plug hole. All external accs. working, alt, wp, ps, ac. Trans (5sp) in good shape, needs new fluid. Turbo back xhaust running 3'', believe it was greddy iirc. All wiring & electronics good

Seller has a forum friend in ca with a new condition head he'll let go for 200 shipped



I'm not an import guy (begin flaming) lol, Everything looks really good to me and i hate to admit that if i had the cash and room for a project car i'd be allover this.

If you found this "deal" on craigslist or ebay its probaly a scam ,they may have even moved into the forums by now...thats the newest scam out right now, they will even post pics and give you a vin number of a car.....they steal the pics and vin from legitimate postings....a good sign is usually a too good to pass up price, stupid low shipping rates, and some BS story about being in the service and having to sell the car ASAP because they are being shipped out in a week or 2. And then they want to set up the transaction through "their" 3rd party escrow person.....I warn you to proceed with caution...and pay with a CC, just make sure you are protected with these kinds of transactions....I signed up for the pay-pal credit card to use on any internet transaction...it protects you 100%, and you can just pay the bill online right from your bank account, right after the transaction is processed.

 

id get the shell but pass up o the rb20.. i know this is an opinion but i feel rb20 are gay.. a 2 liter 6 cyl.. id get a sr20 they can handle good power in stock form.. , or a 2jz, or rb25.. but thats just me.. then you can start on a fresh plate and not a junk motor that somone you dont even know has..

This is actually a local seller, We went out monday to look at at 90 civic hatch, i took a jumpbox and ignition tester in hopes of narrowing down the problem to the distrib. or fuel pump. The guy had just traded a gixxer frame for the car last week so he hadn't had it very long, So we're out poking around on it and trying to get it to turn over. no luck, So we tried the old reliable test of rolling it slightly then easing into gear... Dude just found out the engine is seized... His buddy lied to him about it so he was a little red about it.

Seller is an import guy and has offered to help my friend find a project car even if it's not sold by him, He's offered to tow the rolling shell and all engine components out to the house, and is offering an engine hoist too

I've been in my share of engines before and everything checks out good with me, I'm trying to help him get a project going and this seems like a good fit for him, He's going into auto tech in hs next year so maybe they can take that in as a project.

the guy with i met with monday said this engine will not go in the 240sx with out new engine mounts,luckily he already has the new engine mounts to fit the rb20 into the 240sx coupe
