gsr smoking
i know there have been similar posts to this but wanted to provide specifics as to our situation.
started my car one morning and a ton of white smoke started to come out of the exhaust, after asking my friend/roomie and friends about what could it possibly be, we came to the conclusion its the head gasket. before taking off the head we did a compression test and found out the compression wasnt off by much.
next we took off the head, sent it to a machine shop to get checked out, cleaned, and milled. turns out the valves were good.
replaced all headgaskets, put the head back on, did a valve adj, timing, etc. started the car and all of a sudden there was a huge leak...
lost about a quart of oil from the back of the block...after taking a look, we realized the head gasket was on backwards. flipped it, and put everything back together and now the car runs fine...however, smoke is coming out from the back of the head/manifold.
do u guys think it could be from the oil that was spilled and needs to burn off? we thought about jacking the car up and spraying brake cleaner to clean it off. or maybe its a ruined head gasket? we only ran the head gasket the wrong way for a couple of seconds...or does it jus need to seal since everything is new? could it be a piston ring?
any input would be great appreciated, thanks
