who makes the best speakers these days?
i will soon be replacing my front and rear speakers in my ek hatch. Now i was told a while back that polk were the brand of choice by many people and believed to be one of the better speakers. Is this still true?
My choice is the alpine type s series:
- easy to install with little to no modifications
- very affordable
- decent sound quality
- very efficient ( designed to work with oem and aftermarket decks)
- Alpine is an OEM supplier for Honda (duhhhhh...kinda a no brainer there)

I think "best" is a very subjective term man.
The best speakers for person A may be the worst for person B.
Price range? Purpose? So many details to take into account.

I have always been a big fan of Focal.
I have used focal products for about ten years now and have NEVER been unhappy.
If you want great sound, you have to pay a little extra to have it.
Buy Focal if you want the best.

Ill second the alpine comment. I am using alpine speakers throughout, as well as an alpine 4channel amp to the speakers. Sound is very crisp, even when loud. I have subs for the lo end, so I cant tell you how/if they distort with loud bass playing through them.
Im a big fan of kenwood as well. I am using 2 kenwood 10in subs with a kenwood 2channel amp and they have not let me down.
Ive heard Pioneer makes some decent speaks, but ive had horrible experiences with their customer service, so Im pretty much done using their products.

Alpine...Pioneer...Kenwood being mentioned as the "best" speakers out there? lol
There are smaller companies out there making speakers that blow the above brands away ten times over.

^absolutely. Check out Blaupunkt. Its a german company that was (might even still be) the supplier for a lot (or maybe all) porshes. They dont do much marketing, atleast here in the states, so a lot of times, their stuff is a bit cheaper
Doors....Alpine,Polk,Alphasonik,JL
Subs.....Alpine,JL,RE Audio,Alphasonik
It all depends on how much you wanna spend and than if your wanting to add a amp to them which you will than have to figure out which series to go with.

i was originally looking at the polk mm series found here http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/mm/index.php
6.5 for the fronts and the 6x9 for the backs. no amp or sub will be added. they 6.5 and 6x9's are about 150 a set if you shop around online.

x2 on blaupunkt they are a relatively unknown foreign company but have great products that produce. Your best bet is to just take a trip to your local audio store and listen to a few set-ups and see what you like
If you want SQ, then Focal, Rainbow, Morel-Dotech, Seas-Lotus, Image Dynamics, and Hertz are among some of the top of the line products. JL, Diamond, Memphis, Alpine, Pioneer Premier are among some of the more "standard" and more affordable of the lines.
As mentioned before, it depends on your taste and your budget.

It really depends on your price range for what the "best" speaker would be. I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE the Memphis PR's. They are crisp and super efficent.
If you have a good amount of cash to spend on speakers check out hertz. Those are by far the best sounding speaker i have heard. But that could only be to me. Everyone has a different ear.
I'm personally rocking the Memphis PR's in 4in for the front and 6.5in for the rears. They come with lifetime warrent on them so IF they ever pop you just take it back, get a new one and bam back to normal unlike with a lot of companies don't honor their products like that. I've put my Memphis speakers through hell and back. Never once have I blown one.
My top three would be: Memphis, Hertz and Morels

bang for the buck i personally like alpine type S and infity references speakers. focals are the ****, but i don't even recommend them unless you amp them.
I have tried many speakers and subwoofers in my day and the two companies that outperform in my opinion are alpine and rockford fosgate.
